Out of Site, Out of Mind, is an ongoing digital project. Initially begun as my MFA thesis, I chose to use hypertext as a way of bringing in the reader as a user to interact with a document whose material integrity is in flux.
I think of this hypertext platform as a writing-based mirror for—or the counterpart to—my studio based practice; incorporating writing, artistic influences, images, and video. Out of Site, Out of Mind, remains in progress and will continue to evolve as new components are completed and updated. Like the relationship between the material and the beholder necessary to make an art object, there is an implication of the necessity of a user or reader in the presence of the work. I think it is vital to maintain an accessible online version of this work.
Changes made to this piece will form new iterations, adding layers to the object’s physical memory. Download versions of this HTML file will form an open edition of the piece.
